MATLAB for Engineering Students Part 1
MATLAB Programming for Engineers
Were you assigned a project to do in MATLAB and have no idea how to even use MATLAB? Well, you’ve come to the right place!
The lectures here cover half the content of the MATLAB course I teach on campus. I’ll teach you the basic material you need to know to get started coding in MATLAB.
The lectures here assume you have zero knowledge of MATLAB.
Here’s what we’ll cover…
- Matrices and Vectors
- 2-D Plotting
- User-defined functions
- Logical statements: if-elseif, switch-case
- Looping techniques: for and while loops
- And more!
If you want more topics like anonymous functions, variable input/output functions, calculus functions, strings and more check out my full course by clicking on the banner below. The full course contains downloadable resources like slides, booklets of examples and the data files needed to run the example problems. You’ll also find additional quizzes, exams (including a comprehensive final) and more!
And just to make sure this class will work for you…
Fundamental topics from calculus and physics are used so it is helpful (but not required) to know basics like vectors, derivatives, and integrals.
Need a Book?
You might be wondering about a textbook for reference. The one I always use in my course is MATLAB: A Practical Introduction to Programming and Problem Solving by Stormy Attaway. This book isn’t necessary for this course but I recommend it as a source for more problems to enhance your programming skills.
To enroll or not…
You’ll notice there is an enroll button. It is free to enroll – you just need an email. The benefit of enrolling is your course progress will be tracked and you’ll be able to see what videos you’ve already watched. It’s just like taking a real online course! So, if you’re planning on going through all the videos you may want to try it out.
